New York Knicks Injury Update On Jeremy Lin, Amar’e Stoudemire & Carmelo Anthony 3/28/2012

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire will undergo non-surgical treatment and rehabilitation for the bulging disk in his lower back and is expected to be out approximately two to four weeks, the team said Wednesday.

The Knicks also will be without point guard Jeremy Lin for Wednesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic. Lin has missed two games due to a sore left knee. Interim coach Mike Woodson is not sure if Lin will be back for Friday’s game against Atlanta.

Forward Carmelo Anthony (strained right groin) is questionable for Wednesday’s game, though he has said he will play.

Looks like one more night of strictly Meloball for the Knicks. Don’t like the fact that he’s opting to play despite not being 100%; we all remembered how that worked last time. But I guess when we’re this deep into a year and fighting to keep our head above water you gotta roll the dice and suck it up. Kudos to him for not being a quitter.

Also an interesting/concerning thing of note on STAT;

If Stoudemire underwent surgery, Hsu said he may have to wait 10 to 12 weeks before he started training.

2-4 weeks isn’t gonna do shit. What realistically needs to happen is Stoudemire getting surgery. Whether you want to read that or not it’s the truth. A reoccurring back injury that requires 10-12 weeks of NO activity after surgery truly shows the severity of the injury where we want to see it or not.

Jeremy Lin is also sitting this one out tonight which is disappointing cause everyone assumed and had hoped he’d be healthy and ready for the game tonight vs Orlando. But better to give him the rest he needs and see if he can go Friday vs the Atlanta Hawks.

Jared Jeffries is expected to miss more time than anticipated

Which is a HUGE considering, no STAT and Jeffries = Harrellson/Chandler seeing a lot more minutes and a lot less rest.
