Rex Says Cro Could Line Up At Receiver

According to NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal, Rex Ryan noted during his post-practice presser today that Cromo could see spot duty at receiver this season.

“You have 53 guys on your roster and 45 are active and you’re sitting back some games there has to be some crossover,” Ryan said. “Don’t be surprised if Cromartie plays some receiver, that’s something we talked about. You have to be ready for those type of things.”

I honestly have no problem with this idea considering that right now, Gang Green’s depth at receiver is thinner than one of Cromartie’s plastic Costco brand condoms.

Outside of Tone Time and rookie Stephen Hill, this receiving core is straight up doo-doo. Let’s put it this way, Chaz Schilens is starting. Who? Exactly. We’d be better off lining up Chaz Finster to run a couple fade routes.

Might as well take a gamble with the longest, most athletic player on your roster for a few down-field heaves. Hell, of Keyshawn can play defensive back, why can’t Antonio Cromartie play some receiver?
