From the hours of 7 PM to 12 AM yesterday, Wayne Hunter was a trending on Twitter for what I will say (to put it as nicely as possible) poor play as right tackle. Here are some tweets that can basically sum up the story of Hunter for you;
What does Wayne Hunter say to Sanchez there as he’s helping him get up? “Sorry?”

Sorry to beat a dead right tackle, but Wayne Hunter is one of the worst offensive linemen I’ve ever seen.

Also, just saying: The Giants have blocking sleds that give their DEs a harder time than Wayne Hunter is.

Wonder if the Jets have considered using a stack of cardboard boxes in place of Wayne Hunter?
— Dan Hanzus (@danhanzus) August 19, 2012
Wayne Hunter just missed another block. (Things you can tweet at any point of the game)

Maybe the Jets should put Wayne Hunter on defense. Sacks seem to follow him around…
— James Christensen (@NEPatriotsDraft) August 19, 2012
Wayne Hunter couldn’t even jump in front of a bus to commit suicide. It would just go around him.

This doesn’t even include some of the other shit fans or other people were tweeting;
Yea like a new job
@mmehtanydn: More Wayne Hunter who says back is fine: I need to get something figured out before the first game though.— SokeSleezy (@sokesleezy) August 19, 2012
Long story short; the Wayne Hunter experiment as starting right tackle of the New York Jets has effectively ended – for me at least. How many times are you gonna let Mark Sanchez just get destroyed on his right side? Mark Schalreth said it best this morning; the problem with Sanchez’s timing is that he has to take the snap and then look over to his right tackle before he can even assess the rest of the field. When your QB has no confidence/has to take time away from a play to make sure he’s not gonna be freight trained what does that say about your O-Line, or specifically in this case RT? Hell it’s probably affecting our running game as well. When’s the last time you’ve seen a running back of ours take a snap and make a sweep to the right side off a handoff? Greene is always punching it up the middle (much to the dislike of me [try on the outside every now and then as well Shonn])
Look, I’m sure Wayne Hunter is a really nice guy. I wish him nothing but success and great things (especially because he plays for my team). But sometimes things just don’t work out for you. Maybe RT isn’t your thing. I’m not saying I want him out of the league – football is his livelihood and passion. But off my team would be a great start. The Patriots need some O-Line help. We should be the bigger men in the situation and offer Hunter to the Pats.
Jokes aside come September 9th when we open up vs Buffalo, I need either Wayne Hunter to sack up and learn how to block/move his feet so he can be productive in some situations or I’m gonna need Tannenbaum to go out and get a new RT. Cause if the Wayne Hunter of the past two and half years comes out to play, Mario Williams is gonna go to town on Mark Sanchez.
